February 2012 Notes
Hello - I hope your having a safe Holiday Season and Happy New Year. The next meeting of the San Diego Multiple Myeloma Support Group will take place at 6:30pm on Monday, January 9th, our usual time and meeting location. It's the second Monday of the month in the Forum Meeting Room that is above the Wells Fargo Bank at Westfield UTC Shopping Center. These meetings are always free and open to you, your family and friends, caregivers, health care professionals and anyone with questions about Myeloma.
Refreshments will be provided by donations from group members .
I want to thank the IMF for including me in the American Society of Hematology, ASH Conference December 9 to 13, 2011 in San Diego. The networking I was able to do with doctors as well as pharmaceutical and medical equipment representatives will be invaluable to me and members of our support group. I will share the information with you at our meeting. I'm confident what I learned will benefit Myeloma patients and caregivers through our journey for years to come.
Listen To the Health Care Professionals:
The webcasts taped at the meeting are reports on the current status of some of the most interesting research in Myeloma. The IMF has edited 25+ 4-5 minute videos from leading Myeloma professionals. Follow this path, www.myelpma.org - health professionals - webcasts - Webcasts from ASH 2011.
Below are blogs from other support group leaders who attented the conference. Please take a look at them and bring your questions to the next meeting.

Note : If you are feeling ill, coughing or sneezing, please do not attend the meeting! Myeloma
patients are much more susceptible to getting sick because of our weakened immune
systems. Cold and flu season is even riskier for us. Please be courteous to
